Volunteers are the lifeblood of any event, and this is especially true of the Sam
Costa Half Marathon and Quarter Marathon. In order to host this event we need over 100 volunteers to give their time to help with the following tasks/duties:
Friday Night Prep
Set up all areas of the venue the evening before the race.
Course marking, directional signage, mile marker installation, & post-race pick-up.
Course Marshals (Sentries)
Stand at various intersections along the course and direct runners.
Setup and tear-down finish chutes, assist with scoring, help finishers as needed.
Refreshment Area at Finish Line
Keep the food table stocked with food and drink.
Race day number pick-up and apparel distribution.
Notify runners of split times at every mile.
Pre-race table prep, provide drinks to participants during the race, and cleanup afterward.
Post-race Venue Clean-Up
Collect and remove race items, clean and return to pre-race conditions.
All "Costa" helpers will receive a unique piece of Sam Costa apparel, available only to the Volunteer crew!
Your time commitment varies depending on the task you are assigned.
Generally, volunteers are required to report for duty at 8:00 am and be
available to help till the end of the event which is usually around
noon. However, some positions have earlier needs, and others require you
to remain later. Please specify if you have any time restrictions, and
we will do our best to fit you in.
See you at the 48th Sam Costa Half Marathon and 12th Quarter Marathon on March 25, 2017!!!
